Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea

A wonderfully illustrated 1932 edition of Jules Verne’s classic undersea adventure, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, published by The John C. Winston Company.

This edition features original illustrations by noted American maritime artist Anton Otto Fischer, including four full-page color plates and numerous black-and-white illustrations throughout. It also includes an introduction by Felix Riesenberg, a glossary of deep-sea life, and striking illustrated endpapers.

Bound in green cloth with a large pictorial illustration mounted to the front board depicting one of the novel’s dramatic underwater scenes.

The book is in Good+ overall condition. The green cloth shows noticeable rubbing, fading, and general shelf wear, particularly along the spine and rear joint, with additional wear at the corners and spine ends. The front pictorial panel remains attractive with some surface rubbing and marks. Spine lettering is faded.

The interior is particularly nice for its age. The binding is sound, pages are generally clean, and the illustrations remain bright and appealing. All four color plates are present, along with numerous black-and-white illustrations. There is no printed list of illustrations in the book.
