Twentieth Century Interpretations of Poe's Tales

Published in 1971, this copy retains the complete number line ending in 1, identifying it as a first printing. The collection brings together essays by William Carlos Williams, Yvor Winters, Harry Levin, Clark Griffith, I. M. Walker and other writers and scholars exploring Poe's style, themes, psychological elements and place in American literature.

The paperback is especially appealing for its striking purple and black Stanley Wyatt cover design, which gives this scholarly volume an unmistakably Gothic Poe character.

Condition: Good. Covers show light general shelf wear and age toning. Pages are age toned but remain cleanly bound and fully readable. Approximately 33 pages contain previous-reader annotations in blue ink, primarily underlining, circling and occasional marginal marks. The annotations appear consistent with the book having been used for study or literary discussion.
