A wonderfully illustrated 1924 edition of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure Treasure Island, published by The Saalfield Publishing Company as part of its Every Child’s Library series.

This edition is illustrated by noted American children's book illustrator Frances Brundage and is complete with all 12 illustrations called for in the volume, consisting of a black-and-white frontispiece and 11 additional illustrations.

The book is especially appealing for its colorful pictorial front cover depicting Long John Silver and other characters from the story. The large illustrated panel remains bright and attractive, framed by red cloth. The spine is lettered and decorated in black with “Saalfield” at the foot.

Condition

Good+ antique condition. The pictorial front cover remains attractive with strong color and general age-related rubbing. The red cloth shows edge and corner wear, with noticeable fading and discoloration to the spine and fraying at the spine ends. The text block shows expected age toning.

The interior is generally clean and well preserved for its age. All 12 Frances Brundage illustrations listed in the book are present, including the frontispiece. Previous ownership inscriptions for Anna Fetherolf and Ruth Fetherolf appear on the front endpaper, along with an Anna Fetherolf of Freeburg, Pennsylvania ownership label.
