The West End Horror by Nicholas Meyer

Nicholas Meyer's The West End Horror returns Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to Victorian London in this imaginative continuation of the Holmes canon from the author of The Seven-Per-Cent Solution.

Presented as a previously unpublished memoir of Dr. John H. Watson, the story takes Holmes into London's West End in March 1895, where murder and mystery unfold against the theatrical world of the period. Meyer weaves real historical personalities into the mystery, including George Bernard Shaw, Bram Stoker, Gilbert and Sullivan, Oscar Wilde, and other figures of late Victorian London.

Published by E. P. Dutton in 1976, this is the Book Club Edition, clearly identified as such on the front dust jacket flap.

Particularly appealing is the original illustrated dust jacket, featuring a wonderfully atmospheric 1970s interpretation of Sherlock Holmes with deerstalker, pipe, and match against a richly colored background.

The book shows normal light signs of age and handling. The dust jacket remains complete and visually attractive, with age toning, rubbing, edge wear, and small chips and creases around the extremities, particularly at the spine ends and corners. There is a noticeable rubbed/scuffed area across part of the author's biographical text on the rear jacket panel.
