A handsome Heritage Press edition of The Explorations of Captain James Cook in the Pacific: As Told by Selections of His Own Journals, 1768–1779, bringing together selections from Cook's journals documenting his extraordinary voyages through the Pacific.

Edited by noted Australian geographer and historian A. Grenfell Price and illustrated by maritime artist Geoffrey C. Ingleton, this edition is particularly appealing for its period design. Ingleton's detailed illustrations are accompanied by decorative borders, two-color printing, and striking map endpapers showing the Pacific and the routes of early navigators.

The volume is bound in patterned paper-covered boards with a tan leather-style spine and blind-stamped decorative motifs. The title page and illustrations carry the warm brown and black color scheme throughout the book. Printed at the Griffin Press in Adelaide, South Australia, for the Heritage Press of New York.

Originally prepared in a limited edition for the Limited Editions Club in 1957, this Heritage Press edition followed in 1958 and retains much of the attractive design of that production.

Condition: Very Good. Attractive patterned boards with a clean, bright interior. The illustrations and map endpapers are well preserved. There is visible rubbing and wear along the spine and joints, including a small area of material loss/exposure. Please review photographs for the best indication of condition. No slipcase or Sandglass pamphlet is included.
