Originally published in 1923, The Cowardly Lion of Oz was Thompson's third contribution to the Oz series following Baum's death. This edition preserves the original illustrations of celebrated Oz illustrator John R. Neill and features wonderfully colorful 1980s fantasy cover artwork by Michael Herring.


The copyright page states "First Ballantine Books Trade Edition: June 1985" and retains the complete 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 number line, confirming this copy as a first printing of the Ballantine/Del Rey edition.

Condition

Very Good. Bright, colorful covers with light general shelf and edge wear. There is some rubbing and small areas of wear along the lower front cover edge and minor wear to the spine and extremities, as shown in the photographs. The book remains attractive and presents very well for a vintage paperback.
