A classic Cold War technological thriller from Craig Thomas, author of Firefox, combining espionage, submarine warfare and a tense confrontation between Britain and the Soviet Union.

The British nuclear submarine Proteus carries a revolutionary anti-sonar system code-named Leopard. When the submarine and its secret technology become the target of Soviet forces, the result is a tense race involving intelligence operations, naval strategy and Cold War intrigue.

This is the second printing of the 1981 Viking American edition, explicitly identified on the copyright page as “Second printing August 1981.” The book also includes a double-page map illustrating the northern European and Arctic setting of the story.

A particularly nice vintage copy for collectors and readers of Cold War fiction, submarine novels, military thrillers and classic espionage.
