An attractive early illustrated edition of Eleanor H. Porter’s beloved children’s classic Pollyanna, published by The Page Company of Boston in 1920. This copy is identified on the copyright page as the Forty-Seventh Impression, February 1920 (470th Thousand), just seven years after the novel's first publication in 1913.
The book retains its handsome original dark green cloth binding, decorated with an Art Nouveau-style floral design and bright gilt lettering to the front cover and spine. It is illustrated by Stockton Mulford, with the illustrations complete and in very good condition.
Pollyanna became one of the great successes of early twentieth-century children's literature, introducing generations of readers to its young heroine and her famous optimistic "Glad Game." The "470th Thousand" statement in this copy is an interesting testament to the extraordinary popularity the novel had achieved within only a few years of publication.

Condition: Very Good. An attractive copy with strong green cloth and particularly bright gilt decoration and lettering to the front board. Spine gilt remains quite good. Light rubbing and wear to the extremities, including some wear at the spine ends and corners. Interior is clean and well preserved with mild age toning. The Stockton Mulford illustrations are complete and remain clean and attractive. No dust jacket.
