Published by Rinehart & Company in 1959, this copy is a first edition, third printing, with no subsequent printing statement on the copyright page. It retains its wonderfully distinctive original illustrated dust jacket, decorated in a Scandinavian folk-art style with traditional figures, flowers, trees, and Dala-style horses.

Bjorn drew heavily upon her Swedish heritage in her writing, blending family life, faith, humor, immigration, and memories of the old country. Mama’s Way is an appealing example of the kind of wholesome family literature that found a large American readership during the mid-20th century.
