A handsome 1936 edition of W. Somerset Maugham’s Of Human Bondage, published by the International Collectors Library in Garden City, New York.

One of Maugham’s best known and most enduring novels, Of Human Bondage follows Philip Carey through childhood, education, art, love, disappointment, and his search for meaning and independence.

This decorative edition features a rich green binding extensively decorated and lettered in gilt. The spine carries an especially attractive gilt design, while patterned green and white endpapers, a gilt top edge, and an integral green ribbon marker complete the presentation. A black and white frontispiece by Randolph Schwabe appears opposite the title page.

The copyright page states 1915 and 1936 by Doubleday & Company, and bibliographic records identify this International Collectors Library edition as published in 1936.

Condition: Very Good+. A particularly attractive example with bright, well preserved gilt decoration. Minor rubbing and small marks to the binding consistent with age, including a few small spots to the front board and light wear at the extremities.
