Charles Nordhoff & James Norman HallLittle, Brown and Company / The Atlantic Monthly Press, 1960Book Club Edition

A handsome vintage edition of one of the great sea-adventure novels of the twentieth century.

Originally published in 1932, Mutiny on the Bounty retells the legendary 1789 mutiny aboard HMS Bounty, following the voyage to Tahiti, the conflict between Captain William Bligh and his crew, and the rebellion that became one of the most famous episodes in maritime history.

This 1960 Book Club Edition is especially appealing for its dramatic illustrated dust jacket, with jacket painting by John Alan Maxwell and lettering by Sam Bryant. Beneath the jacket are attractive blue boards decorated with a stylized dark-blue wave motif.
