A signed first edition of Mama’s Way by Thyra Ferré Bjorn, published by Rinehart & Company in 1959 and retaining its wonderfully illustrated original dust jacket.

Following the success of Papa’s Wife and Papa’s Daughter, Bjorn returned to the story of her Swedish-American family in Mama’s Way, a warm and deeply personal book centered on family, faith, humor, and the influence of a remarkable mother. Born in Swedish Lapland, Bjorn came to the United States with her family in 1924 and drew heavily upon those experiences in her popular books.

This copy is especially appealing for its author inscription and signature on the front free endpaper, reading:

“With my best wishes, Thyra Ferré Bjorn”

Published in 1959 by Rinehart & Company, Inc., this is the first edition of Mama’s Way. The copyright page carries only the original 1959 copyright date and the Rinehart imprint, with no indication of a later printing. I would describe it conservatively as a first edition, probable first printing.
