A handsome Heritage Press edition of Charles Dickens's Hard Times for These Times, published in New York in 1966 and illustrated by Charles Raymond.



This edition features Raymond's expressive illustrations throughout and is bound in light gray linen decorated with an elaborate brown geometric design and a gilt title medallion on the spine. The book is housed in its original brown slipcase.


Also included is the original Heritage Club Sandglass No. III:31, providing background on Dickens, the novel, and the production of this edition. These Sandglass pamphlets were issued to Heritage Club members with each volume and are frequently missing from books found today.

Condition: Near Fine book in a Very Good+ slipcase. The decorative cloth remains exceptionally clean and attractive with strong brown decoration and bright gilt to the spine. Interior pages are clean and well preserved. The slipcase shows light age and shelf wear, particularly around the edges and corners, but remains sturdy and attractive. Please see photographs for the condition of this copy.


A particularly nice example of one of Heritage Press's beautifully produced editions of Dickens, complete with both its original slipcase and Sandglass.
