Evelyn Waugh Five Volume Collection | Little, Brown 1979 Hardcover Reprints with
A handsome five-volume collection of novels by Evelyn Waugh, published by Little, Brown and Company in 1979 and presented in their distinctive matching illustrated dust jackets.
The collection includes:
Brideshead Revisited
Men at Arms
Officers and Gentlemen
The End of the Battle
The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold
Of particular interest, Men at Arms, Officers and Gentlemen, and The End of the Battle comprise Waugh's complete Sword of Honour trilogy, his celebrated satirical treatment of British military life during the Second World War. The End of the Battle is the American title for the novel published in Britain as Unconditional Surrender.
The trilogy is joined by two of Waugh's best known standalone works: The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold and the enduring classic Brideshead Revisited.
Little, Brown republished these works in 1979 with a wonderfully recognizable coordinated jacket design. Together, the five volumes make an especially attractive shelf set and an appealing collection for the reader or collector of twentieth century British literature.
