Volume VI from the scholarly Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe, edited by James A. Harrison of the University of Virginia. This 1965 AMS Press edition faithfully reproduces the 1902 New York edition.

This volume contains the fifth collection of Poe's prose tales, including The Purloined Letter, The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether, The Cask of Amontillado, The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar, Hop-Frog, The Sphinx, Some Words with a Mummy, and other works, accompanied by textual notes.

The volume retains the illustrations and decorative elements of the edition it reproduces, including the illustrated Prose Tales of Edgar Allan Poe title page and the illustration for "Some Words with a Mummy."
