A substantial collection of the poetry of Robert W. Service, the celebrated poet whose vivid ballads of the Yukon, frontier life, war, adventure, and human character earned him enduring popularity as the "Bard of the Yukon."

Published by Dodd, Mead & Company in 1964, this vintage hardcover brings together six major Service collections:

Rhymes of a Red Cross ManBallads of a CheechakoThe Spell of the YukonRhymes of a Rolling StoneBallads of a BohemianBar-Room Ballads

Among Service's best-known works are the much-loved Yukon poems "The Cremation of Sam McGee" and "The Shooting of Dan McGrew." This large omnibus provides an excellent introduction to the remarkably accessible narrative poetry that made Service one of the most widely read poets of the early 20th century.

The book retains its striking original navy blue and yellow illustrated dust jacket, featuring a wintry mountain scene—a particularly attractive feature for display and collection.

A handwritten Christmas 1966 gift inscription appears on the front free endpaper, reading in part, "To the Grandfather of the Best Boy in the World." A charming piece of the book's personal history.
