Anatomy of a Murder by Robert Traver
Robert Traver's Anatomy of a Murder, offered here in the first Dell printing from April 1959, the first paperback edition of the celebrated courtroom novel originally published in hardcover by St. Martin's Press in 1958.
Traver was the pen name of Michigan judge John D. Voelker, whose legal experience gave the novel an unusual degree of authenticity. The book became a major bestseller and was adapted into Otto Preminger's acclaimed 1959 film starring James Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara, and George C. Scott.
This early Dell edition, numbered F75, retains its striking illustrated courtroom cover and original 50¢ price. The copyright page explicitly states "First Dell printing—April, 1959."
Condition: Good. Covers show noticeable age and handling wear, including creasing, rubbing, edge wear, and worn corners. The spine has creasing and surface wear but remains intact. Rear cover has several prominent vertical creases. Pages are age toned, as expected for a paperback of this period. Overall, a solid and attractive surviving copy with strong cover color and graphics.
